Control. When access is not an option.
The CatchBlock Reconductoring System is an engineered catenary roller system designed for conductor, Optical Ground Wire (OPGW), or other cable replacement or installation across complex spans where access below the line is restricted, impacted, or impossible.
CatchBlock keeps the conductor, support ropes, and recovery path controlled above the crossing throughout the operation. This provides greater control during installation and establishes a defined recovery path if a conductor falls.
Key benefits
CatchBlock supports reconductoring and new conductor or OPGW installation across highways, railways, waterways, substations, environmentally sensitive areas, and other locations where access beneath the span may be restricted.
Retained support and recovery ropes provide a defined recovery path if a conductor fails, allowing crews to recover the conductor from the structures rather than relying on access beneath the span.
By keeping the conductor and ropes above the crossing, CatchBlock can reduce the need for scaffolding, protective structures, or access to the property and infrastructure below.
Single- and twin-block assemblies, together with single- and dual-rope deployment options, allow the system to be configured around conductor arrangements, span conditions, and project requirements.
Lightweight components, remotely operated rope deployment, and purpose-built tensioning equipment help crews establish and manage the system across demanding overhead line applications.
Products
Single-Block CatchBlock Assemblies
A single CatchBlock provides a dedicated roller path for one conductor, supporting conductor installation and recovery across complex or restricted-access spans.
Twin-Block CatchBlock Assemblies
Two connected CatchBlocks provide separate roller paths for two conductors, maintaining separation while allowing both conductors to be supported and managed through the same span.
Conductor Replacement Roller
The Conductor Replacement Roller (CRR) is the single-rope deployment option within the CatchBlock system, providing a streamlined approach for conductor replacement and installation across standard spans.
High-Voltage Pulling Rope
Lightweight, torque-balanced Slingco High-Voltage Pulling Rope provides the dielectric rope used for CatchBlock support and recovery applications, combining an aramid fiber core with a protective TPU coating.
Remotely Operated Tug Unit
The remotely operated, battery-powered tug unit travels along the conductor to deploy ropes and CatchBlock equipment, helping crews establish the system without accessing the span from below.
Bollard Clamps
Bollard Clamps provide controlled rope tensioning across the CatchBlock system, distributing friction over a larger rope area to help minimize crushing, compression, or damage to the rope coating.
